What is Counselling
Counselling is a one to one talking therapy that introduces ways of thinking and being that can be drawn on through periods of negativity. It can seem daunting. You may wonder what happens, how it works, if it is effective and how long it takes.
Counselling offers different ways of looking at old and current difficulties and helps to uncover aspects of our personalities that will help us to deal with problems more effectively. Through this process, we open up the possibility of finding new perspectives that will improve our relationship with people around us, in our personal lives and our working lives. Over time, it can help us to become more accepting of ourselves and others - and to be more fully who we are.
Working Humanistically means working in an open and equal way and on the basis of the belief that the client is the expert in his/her own life and history.
My work is also integrative and this means that we use skills and ideas drawn from a range of approaches in response to the issues you bring to the session.
So who ever you are, whatever your age, whatever your situation, or problem you are facing, whether you are worried, depressed, confused, feeling bad about your self, coping with unexpected change or crisis or just wanting to make changes in your life, it can be helpful to talk things over, in confidence in a safe enviroment. If you would like to get in touch give me a ring, or send a email for more information.
